Iona was born in Royal Leamington Spa and was brought up in Coventry. She worked for Royal Mail for over twenty years in various managerial positions.

Since leaving Royal Mail, Iona has founded and developed www.businessvision.co.uk, which gives advice to people wanting to start and develop their own business.

Iona was attracted to the Liberal Democrats policies on the environment and their promotion of a fair society. Since joining the Liberal Democrats she has been a social secretary and has been involved in a number of campaigns. Iona believes that the experience she has gained in her career, business and political life will be of benefit for Coventry North West.
